All over the world there are citizens who feel their principles are deeply compromised when they are asked to pay taxes which they know will be used to deliberately kill and prepare to kill other human beings. They believe they are being conscripted through their taxes as surely as if they were being conscripted into active service.

The Charter of the UN was written in 1945, establishing fundamental rights for the world's citizens. Out of this sprang the UN Declaration of Human Rights, the American Declaration of Human Rights, the European Convention on Human Rights, the International Covenant on Human Rights and the African Charter.
