In the meantime, the following is some useful background information to help with your initial planning. Manchester is a large city in the north west of England, approximately 180 miles from London. It has its own international airport with frequent public transport links into the city centre. It is served by a good main line train service, with regular fast trains from London in the south and from northern England and Scotland in the north. For those on a tight budget there is also a regular bus service from central London and most other UK main cities.
By trainTrains run every 30 minutes to Manchester Piccadilly from London Euston station, which is a short walk (0.6km) from the new Eurostar International terminal at St Pancras station. Journey time is approximately 2 hours 15 minutes.
We recommend you book your train early to get the cheapest tickets (two single tickets often cost much less than a return, but these sell quickly). You can book up to three months ahead on the following website: www.thetrainline.com Bus from Manchester city centre The main bus station in Manchester is in Piccadilly Gardens, which is a short walk from Piccadilly railway station. If you arrive at Oxford Road railway station the bus stops are just on the other side of Oxford Road, outside the Palace Hotel. If you arrive at Victoria railway station you can take a tram to the Piccadilly bus station as the walk is a little bit further. The number 41, 42, 43, 44 and 45 buses all go past the Fallowfield Campus, which is situated on the busiest bus route in Europe. Fares range between 60p and £1.20 depending on the bus company used. Ask the driver to tell you when you get to Fallowfield Campus. Bus from Manchester Airport The number 43 bus (Stagecoach) to Fallowfield Campus takes approximately 35 minutes and costs £2.50. Ask the driver to tell you when you get to Fallowfield Campus. Train and Bus from Manchester Airport Take a train from the airport to Manchester Piccadilly bus station then take bus number 41, 42, 43, 44 or 45 to Fallowfield Campus. The journey time is approximately 15 minutes and costs about £7 altogether. By Car There is limited car parking on the Fallowfield Campus. Please use public transport if you can. From M60 (East) Leave at M60 at J7 sign posted Manchester/Altrincham/Sale Follow A56 Chester Road towards Manchester Centre 3/4 Mile. Then turn right at traffic lights into A5145 Edge Lane sign posted Sheffield. After 3/4 Mile bear left at traffic lights into A6010 Wilbraham Road, sign posted Chorlton. Carry on for 2 ½ Miles to Wilmslow Road. Signs for Fallowfield Campus then show direction to the venue. From M56 At Junction 3 of the M56 continue towards Manchester along A5103 Princess Parkway/Princess Road for 3 miles. Turn right at the traffic lights into Wilbraham Road A6010 (sign-posted Sheffield/Ashton under Lyne) Follow Fallowfield Campus signs to the venue. From M67 Follow M67 west from Mottram, onto A57 signposted Manchester. After about 2 miles turn left at traffic lights into Mount Road, Then second right into Stanley Grove. After 3/4 Mile cross over the A6 into Dickenson Road A6010. After ½ mile left into Birchfields Road A34, After ½ mile turn right into Old Hall Lane Follow the Fallowfield Campus signs to the venue. By Taxi Taxi ranks can be found at each railway station in the centre of Manchester. The fare is approximately £7.00 to the Fallowfield Campus. The taxi fare from Manchester Airport to the Fallowfield Campus is approximately £15.00. Click here for a Google map
